The Patriots found the Bills to be a tough bunch last Monday, but still managed their 10th consecutive victory. Quarterback Tom Brady wasn’t at his best, but still good enough to get the win. Brady threw for 277 yards by going 20 for 39 in passing, which was his second-lowest yardage total this season. However, running back James White and wide receiver Danny Amendola had good games with Amendola taking over the top receiver spot with Julian Edelman out with an injury. Amendola chipped in with a season-high 117 yards on nine catches. However, he was also injured during the second half and it’s not clear if he’ll be in the lineup on Sunday. White contributed with a couple of touchdowns and that was basically all New England needed to clinch the win.
The Patriots can clinch the division with a win in Denver and they’ve played well enough there over the past 10 encounters as they’re both 6-4 against the spread and straight up. Brady and the offense will need to be a bit better this weekend though since the Broncos concede just 18.3 points against per game on average, which is the second-lowest in the league. If Amendola and Edelman are both out then the onus will fall onto Brandon LaFell to take over as the key receiver. New England averages 320.4 yards in the air each week. LaFell was two for six in receptions last week for 66 yards and has caught for 306 yards with no touchdowns this year in five contests.

Of course, the Patriots also have tight end Rob Gronkowski to help out. However, he was pretty quiet against Buffalo with just a pair of catches for 37 yards. Still he averages 16.5 yards in the air each outing, which leads the NFL’s tight ends.
The Broncos had to do without top quarterback Peyton Manning last week as backup Brock Osweiler took over against the Bears and he played well enough to lead his team to victory. It was Osweiler’s first-ever NFL start and he passed for 250 yards by going 20 for 27. He tossed a couple of touchdown passes and got through the game with no interceptions. It looks like Osweiler will start again on Sunday and will be hoping his defense is up to par as they have been so far this year by allowing just 284.3 yards against per game. The offense will need to pick it up a notch though over last week and good games will be needed out of wide receiver Demaryius Thomas and running back Ronnie Hillman.

Hillman carried the ball 21 times last week for a game-best 102 yards. He’s leading the squad with 528 yards on the ground this year along with five touchdowns. Thomas has also been a key player as he’s caught for 100 yards on three occasions this season and averages 12.3 yards per reception. Newcomer Vernon Davis was on form last week as the tight end gained 68 yards on half a dozen receptions. This should be the round’s highlight game and a tough one to call, but the Patriots should remain unbeaten.
