The Detroit Lions and Seattle Seahawks are both struggling early in the 2015 NFL campaign as the Lions are winless after three weeks and the Seahawks are 1-2. The misery is going to be extended for fans of one of these NFC teams on Monday night as they meet each other at CenturyLink Field in Seattle on October 5th. The Seahawks will be going for their second straight win after downing the Chicago Bears 26-0 last week and Detroit is still looking for its first win of the season after suffering a 24-12 home defeat at the hands of the Denver Broncos. The Lions are tied with the Bears at the bottom of the NFC North while Seattle is tied for second in the NFC West with San Francisco and St. Louis.

After having a decent year in 2014, the Lions are having a rough time this year. Quarterback Matthew Stafford has been erratic and went 31 for 45 in passing against Denver last week, but was picked off twice. He finished the contest with 282 yards in his pocket. Stafford has been intercepted half a dozen times already this year, which is the same number of touchdown passes he’s thrown. The running game hasn’t fared any better as running backs Joique Bell and Ameer Abdullah have combined for just 23 carries and a grand total of 40 yards in their past two outings.
The Lions are facing a tough task in Seattle as CenturyLink Field has been a bit of a fortress for the Seahawks over the past few years. In addition, Detroit has just one victory in their past seven road trips and have lost four of their past five against the NFC West. The Lions managed to pull out a victory the last time they met Seattle though as they won an exciting 28-24 game at home in 2012. The Lions will need the stars to align perfectly to leave Seattle with a win on Monday night though and the Seahawks will have to be below their past.
The Seahawks recorded their first win last week with their whitewash against Chicago and quarterback Russell Wilson has been improving with each game. He completed 20 of 30 passes against the Bears and gained 235 yards in the process. His favorite target last week was Jimmy Graham, who had seven receptions for 89 yards and added a touchdown. Seattle kept on trucking after Marshawn Lynch left the game at halftime due to a hamstring problem. This allowed rookie Thomas Rawls to shine as he carried the ball 16 times for 104 yards with 98 of them being gained during the second half.

Seattle also lost defensive tackle Brandon Mebane in the first quarter against the Bears, but the defense remained strong and limited the Bears to 63 passing yards to backup quarterback Jimmy Clausen. The Seahawks also defended the running game well by conceding just 74 yards. If the Seahawks’ secondary can keep Stafford in check and under 300 yards then the Lions losing streak will likely be extended to four.
